Yellu works as a peer educator under Aastha Parivaar at the community based organization (CBO) Asha Darpan.Yellu has been an active sex worker or Key Person (KP) for 20 years. She has served as a peer educator with the organization for the past 5 years in order to help her own community.
During her time with Asha Darpan, Yellu has become more confident, experienced, and financially sustainable. She says stigma serves as a prominent barrier between Asha Darpan and the acquisition of more KPs. She and the other field workers must approach community members door to door since they are limited in their ability to visit the office.
